I've taken a break from the boards and have found some references to "rep".

I give positive rep to people who are helpful and/or encouraging. Unfortunately, the number of wonderful people on this board far, far outnumber the amount of rep we can give in a 24-hour period. If I quit posting and reading the boards so I don't find out about rep-deserving posters, I would get caught up on giving positive rep in about a month. I can't do that, though.
I never give negative rep. There is no point to it, IMO, unless a seller turns out to be a bad apple. That hasn't been a problem, either.

When you agree with someone's post you have the option to 'rep' them.
From their post click on the 'scale' in the upper right corner. Add a nice comment and YOUR NAME.
Giving negative rep is reserved for extreme situations--and usually in those cases the 'powers that be' will delete that post anyways...
Postive reps give you points and negatives take them away. The more rep points you have the more points you give out when you rep someone.
There is a limit on giving out rep--you need to spread it around.
BTW--I gave you a rep point.
Click 'User Control Panel' to see what you are worth rep-wise. (blue bar at top left of page).
