View Full Version : secular literature guides?
Looking for something similar to Veritas Press or Progeny Press, but secular. Anyone know of anything?
Thanks.

I'm not sure if they are anything like Veritas but friends of mine have like these. I have not seen them so I don't know if they are any good.

I really like Teaching the Classics because it works for any book! He has DVD's that one of my friends bought and we all watched. I suppose I've forgotten how to really look at literature - plot, conflict, theme, characters, setting, etc... He's got great questions in the back that you can choose from to meet the needs of the literature you are using.

Garlic Press (cute name, eh?) also puts out some well regarded secular literature guides. Here is a link to their sample page:

I'm not sure that's true for LL's upper levels. We are using LL Medieval unit this year. There have been a number of questions pertaining to whether the text describes Christian values and if the characters are Christian. We have only done two sections so far, so I don't know it this is true for throughout the unit. I know the next bk is the classic poem Piers the Ploughman, which explores Christian themes.
