I am still trying to decide a best course for an intro to literary analysis. My dd loves to write and we have not done one before. I am thinking in the long run this will help her with her own writing- to be able to pull out the deeper meanings in other literature.

I am leaning to the Abeka 9th grade course, it seems to add in vocabulary as well which is a plus. I have also heard that Christian Light is good and that maybe Abeka is better than the Bob Jones.

We just got back from vacation and I still have not sent in my letter to the school as I cannot make this final decision- any advice appreciated, school starts tomorrow. :auto:
Thanks,
Kathy

You may be familiar with this already, but IEW's Window's to the World is a possibility. I haven't used it, but I viewed it at a home school curriculum fair, and I thought it looked good. I believe others have posted opinions about it here.

Kathy,

Can't you just put something down on your letter that, perhaps, is the most likely course you'll use, but if (when? :D) you change your mind, you just send a letter stating your revision?

I've done that before here in NY. I change my mind, or find that whatever I'd put on my IHIP just isn't working, and when I send in my quarterly report, I note that instead of "A", we're using "B" now, this is how much we've completed and this is dc's grade.

Sorry I can't offer suggestions for a LA course.

Teaching the Classics is a great program. The skills learned can then be used with any literature out there.

I haven't used Windows to the World yet, but only Teaching the Classics. I would use that one. We have used it for a wide variety of books. HTH
