Our support group is in charge of hosting a Mom's Night Out for March. Everyone seems to be dragging their feet and we haven't done any planning. Last year I was in charge, this year it's a "group" of ladies in charge. I did it on lapbooking/hands on manipulatives and someone else talked about learning styles. They year before someone talked about "mission statements" and then we broke into groups according to ages and talked about things we were doing in our homeschool.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kristine

We did a 'curriculum chat'. We all brought our favorite curriculum, or anything that we thought others might want to see, laid them out on tables (by grade) and everyone spent an hour or so checking the books out.
I was able to see a couple of things that I really wanted to check out but never had a chance to actually see. I also found a couple of things that I didn't know about, and we're now using.
We spent the second hour talking about curriculum and other assorted homeschooling issues. Of course we all brought some goodies to share too.
It was a fun evening.

We're doing a mothers raising daughters night at our church.
We're discussing mostly spiritual things such as discipling our daughters, building upon their gifts, setting limits, etc.
You could concentrate on practical things if this isn't a christian group.
How much time is enough...what resources have proven helpful in raising daughters...modesty guidelines...self esteem and friendship issues like gossip, etc.
Plenty of ways to go with this one...

My mom's group just did a MNO and it was super simple - and we all loved it.
We got together at one member's house to play easy table games. We ended up talking the whole time. It was incredibly theraputic for all of us. Just to be able to sit and chat with each other about what we were all going through was wonderful.

Crissy - I think Coho's has a policy against those items - well, not the whiskey if you order it there!
