He is on the floor, prone, and sighing periodically. He has not spoken a word, yet is sighing. Drama! Do you think he wants me to ask him what is going on? Should I torture him by ignoring the sighs and wait until he learns how to speak his mind? Yeah, I think I will go with the 2nd one. More fun for me that way.

Isn't it great when they do that. Dd does it while walking around aimlessly.

Dh enlightened me. He said ds asked for a snack and was told no. So that's why he was sighing. But he has a small bowl of frozen mangoes now and is happy. Dh just didn't want to get one for him so he said no!:tongue_smilie:

Definitely ignore! You could play the game back and sigh with contentment over your coffee, or look out the window and start laughing.

Enjoy!

Ah! He's decided on taking the subtle approach.

It's better than my ds12 would do. He'd burst into a tantrum out of nowhere because he wanted a drink or snack or something bothering him and he never tried the asking thing first. Teaching him that made life much easier. Except he stills stews about stuff and blows it up and decides that we don't like him because IF he asked we would say no or so he has decided without even asking.

Torture. Absolutely go with the torture. Give in to your inner Machiavelli. It's even better when they do it right in the middle of the room, where you can very deliberately walk over them and act like they're nothing more than a misplaced piece of furniture. :D

You mean you can't read his mind? ;) My dds think I'm supposed to know what's wrong without asking!

I have one like that. I try to explain that she will never get what she wants if she doesn't ask for it. Don't come out and ask - 100% chance the answer is "no." Ask in a proper manner - 50% chance of the answer being "no." :D
