Could Horizons preschool be used secularly? Would there be much left if you skip the biblical aspects? Have you reviewed it in detail yet? Thanks, Michele
DS is ready now, this week I've used printed materials, but don't want to continue piecing together my own stuff.

YES!!!!
You can use it secularly, I thought you were going in another direction so I didn't do the review yet. Okay, throughout there is a spattering mentions of God and Jesus but nothing you can't skip or even mark out God/Jesus and use the worksheet for the day.
Of course the Bible song CD will be useless to you. The Resource Packet has memory scripture cards that you won't use but that's about it. Honestly, I think this is an awesome program. I'm not big on heavy indoctrination (no judgment in that). The Resource Packet has 8.5 x 11 flashcards for ABC, 123, and shapes. The crafts are actually within the student books so you'll have to tear out the pages as you work on them, the resource packet only has a few things that go with the lessons, the rest are gorgeous, big, flash cards.
I can take pictures and do a review, tonight or tomorrow.

That is great to hear, I really don't want to use Calvert Pre-School, just because I did last year with my middle and "I" want something different. I'm okay with "light" bible, I was just worried it was so intertwined with scriptures, etc. that after I was done pulling that stuff out a good portion would be missing and it wouldn't justify the cost of the program.
I've looked at a lot of options, none of which has sparked my interest like the Hoizon's Preschool has. You mentioned another cd you were adding to it when I talked with you last, what was that?
Will you then branch of for K - doing Horizon K math, a phonics program, and hand writing program of choice?
I wanted to make sure I didn't miss your post, hope I wasn't being a pest :)

DNealian is my handwriting of choice but after reading more about handwriting, it doesn't seem to matter as long as the child writes neatly. I'm going to decide after PreK what route to take. Sing, Spell, Read & Write is what we think we'll go to after Horizons PreK but it is all dependent on our son.
Our PreK through 4th curricula is at my blog right now, K is really up in the air except Horizons Math K, Galloping the Globe, and dinosaurs.

I've considered SSRW, it looks fun and ds would defnitely like the interactive game part of it. I've just have so much time invested in learning SWR that I feel obligated to continue it. SWR is efficient, but should not be as difficult of a program to learn as it is.

Now I need to go check this out. I don't have a problem with teaching religion (we read the bible as part of school for my 2nd grader although I am not a Christian) but I don't want anything too preachy...it sounds like it could be a good fit. Thanks for asking the question Michelle (and for responding, Jessica)...can't wait to see a review :)

It looks quite similar to Calvert's Preschool at a fraction of the cost.
