Paypal is easy; just go to the site and set up an account. Be aware, though, if you set it up as a personal account, but take CC payments, they'll convert it to a business account and charge fees. Read the details carefully, just so you know what's going on. Since you're ebaying, you may just want to set it up as a business account.
Ebay--they have a step by step process on setting up your account, so just go slowly and read all the info. They also, once you have an account established, have online chat with Ebay folks who will answer any questions. I found them to be immensely helpful when I had a non-paying bidder for a car I was selling.

Would you consider doing it as a kind of estate sale?
You could advertise in local papers, put everything you're selling in your living room and dining room and then let people make appointments to come in and see.
You've got nice stuff, so you really don't want to take the chance that someone can bid on your (fill in the blank) and then end up paying you like 10 bucks for it.
I've heard of people doing auctions before a major move too.

I agree, setting up is pretty easy. Before you list something to sell, take a good picture of it, and search eBay for other people selling the same thing to get an idea what the price should be. Some things might be better off sold elsewhere (like individual books), others may be better combined into "lots" (like kids' clothes or books). They have a shipping estimator that can be helpful if you know how much something weighs.
Don't ship anything until you've been paid. If you print the shipping label through Paypal you'll get delivery confirmation, which can be really helpful if any dispute comes up.
