Do you schedule an exercise every other day?
If yes, then do you have them review on the "off" days?
Do you have your child make vocab cards? Or list them in a journal/notebook?
Thanks,
Lisa

We use this and it works best in our case if the kids do Barrier every other day, and then we also use Rosetta Stone, which gives them some variation and vocabulary. They did make the vocab cards at first, but then I found a large set at the bookstore and have them choose the words they need to study. The girls were really dawdling making the cards, decorating them at great length, etc. It was just taking too long and they seem to be getting the vocab just fine without all of that fanfare. Now they can save it for their notebooking!
I hope you hear from others. I'm not a big language person -- I've tried everything and none of it has really worked great. The kids need to be immersed in the language, or taught by a native speaker, I think, and I'm just not good at this aspect. Breaking the Barrier has been the only thing we've been able to stick with. And Rosetta Stone is having a bigger positive effect than I thought it would be.

Thank you for responding, Sandy.
Since I do not have Rosetta Stone and likely will not due to financial constraints, I'm wondering if weaving in the French in Action videos would work in a manner similar to how you are using Rosetta Stone?
Maybe others will chime in?
Thanks! :001_smile:

Lisa,
I don't have Breaking the Barrier French, but I think as long as you do something in French every day then your dc will do well. I tried using Annenburg's Destinos (Spanish) with my ds, but the speakers spoke to fast for him. I'm not sure about the French in Action videos if your dc will be able to "catch" the French. However, if they review the videos over and over, then hopefully it will be helpful.
