Are you familiar with the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS (http://nces.ed.gov/IPEDS/))? You can find colleges by program or major, geographic region, etc. using their College Navigator. There are some interesting ways of using this information that is reported to the government. For example, you can look at the numbers of students in intended majors to help predict whether upper level courses are taught regularly. The website has a lot of information although you may need to fiddle with it for a bit to see how it can work for you.

Best,
Jane

This is very useful! Much nicer than the college board site. Thank you.

Thanks, Jane! This looks quite informative -- especially since my daughter is still working on her final list of colleges to which to apply.

Kareni

this is very timely...I've been doing college search work all day for dd. (She shoulda done this this summer, but "life" got in the way...gotta take exchange students when you can get them. :) )

BTW, the CB search engine is down right now.
