DS (6) has completed:
Visual Perceptual Book 1
Lollipop Logic
several of the Highlights Puzzlemania books
in addition to word searches
He's currently working through Visual Perceptual Book 2.
Where do we go from here? I'm hesitant to start him on Logic Safari Book 1 and Primarily Logic because those are the books my 3rd grader is using this year.
Would you use Mind Benders Beginning Book 2?
What are some other Logic workbooks appropriate for 1st/2nd? He eats this type of stuff up.

Perplexors (http://www.mindwareonline.com/MWESTORE/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={f1b142fd-a866-4520-833b-88b44b672667}) is a good one. (Basically the same as Mind Benders, but about four times as many puzzles for the same price.) My 6yo has done the "basic" level, and with my older child, I certainly found they could be used well before the ages listed. Grid Perplexors (http://www.mindwareonline.com/MWESTORE/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={89f78b95-6273-4722-82bc-f6d6f981ed3b})is another good one (pretty much the same idea as Perplexors, but requires kids to map the information a little more).
Mindware (http://www.mindwareonline.com/MWESTORE/Home/HomePage.aspx?) also publishes a number of other logic puzzle books, most of which are pretty good. Venn Perplexors and Logic Links are decent, but I found a few problems with both as well. (Multiple correct solutions for Logic Links, for instance...) Math Path is another one we've used, and there are many others.
Also, have you tried some of the ThinkFun (http://www.thinkfun.com/DEFAULT.ASPX?PageNo=HOME) games? Rush Hour, River Crossing, Hot Spot and many more. Some of these have "junior" versions, though I find typically the beginning level cards are just fine for my kids at 6yo, and the games can be used longer if you buy the adult versions.
Have you taught him to play chess? That's certainly a great option, and cheaper in the long run than the other suggestions, since the possibilities with it are pretty much endless.
