What do I need to teach this?
Is the text enough or would the DVT and/or the student solutions manual be helpful for a math phobic parent?
Thanks.

I'm using this with my 13 yo dd. We are finding it very easy to understand.
1- The lessons speak right to the student. Sometimes she reads it to herself, sometimes I read it to her. It is very clear. Well I think so but math is not one of my fears. However my dd doesn't love math and she still seems to understand it. In fact she likes this text.
2- it is easy to use: pick up and go... read the lesson, do the problems as you go thru the lesson (when it tells you to do them) check your answers, do the exercises (we do only the odds and it's plenty). Check your work with answers in the back. Next lesson. At the end of the chapter do the review (turn back into the lessons if needed), do the cumulative review (turn back to prior lessons if needed), take the test. Next chapter.

The explanations looked good on amazon. I was not a strong math student in hs or college. I thought I would go over this first, before I taught it, to ensure that I knew what I was doing. It's been more years than I care to count since I've had any math instruction.

I bought a used 5th edition of Amazon to use for 7th based on board recommendations. I have got to say, it is as promised. It is straightforward and doable, excellent illustrations and examples. I am very pleased. I did grab the student solutions manual used as well for another $10 so we have the answers to all the problems. But I could have lived without it I think.
