A hs mom friend suggested Total Language Plus (www.totallanguageplus.com) for my dd9. Their rep will have a booth at the book fair I'm attending this week. I'm wondering if any of you experienced hs ladies have tried it or have any kind of opinion regarding the structure/content.
Thanks in advance!

I have purchased some but haven't used them yet. Hopefully next month we'll start the Pippi Longstocking one.

I actually blogged about it HERE (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Homeschooling6/567230/). If you do order ask for a catalog because the Guides say "Reproduction Prohibited" but the catalog gives you permission to copy them. I'm going to take mine to FedEx Kinkos and they would need to see that it's okay to make copies.

My kids are both using this at co-op this year. My 5th grader and 3rd grader. I can't really say how much we like it because they've done it for 2 days so far. I do know that it has the children reading and looking up scriptures in the bible to compare to the ideas of the book they're studying. That is nice. I'm not sure about the writing assignments yet, because we haven't done any. But from the looks of things, I think we'll like it just fine.

Sorry,

Kimberly

we have it and so far really like it. My dd is 12 and she loves the fact that it's her spelling, language arts and grammar and reading all in one!

We have been using "The Whipping Boy" with 4th-5th graders in co-op, and have already decided to ditch the spelling- it is WAY too hard for this level. The words are great for vocab, but unless you have a super-speller who has already mastered all spelling rules, then this is just too much, IMHO. Everything else seems to be at the "right" level, but we also supplement writing and grammar so we can give them more work. I wouldn't consider it a stand-alone LA program, but it is working well as a lit study.
