These are in the Rainbow Resource catalog. A mom brought some of the Keva planks to our homeschool moms' meeting last night, and they were really neat! However, RR also offers another set (slightly more expensive) called Kaplas. The Kaplas also have books that go with them that are pictoral only. Any thoughts on these and which are "better?"
TIA!

We bought a large set of 400 Keva planks at Christmas time and the boys absolutely love them. I chose Keva because they are made of maple and in the US. They are other wise the same. I was able to check out a small kit of Kapla at Target.

We got the 400 set a year ago for my dc for Christmas. They were such a hit that we got 200 more this past Christmas. My dc love them!

We have Keva's too. Right now there is a keva dinosaur farm with trees and a barn in my sunroom. We love them. We have had them for over a year. I got them because I figured maple would hold up better with my dc.

I haven't seen Kevas, but we have a box of Kaplas. They're terrific and were definitely worth the money for the amount of playtime she gets out of them. Definitely a good investment. And yes, the booklet that comes with the Kaplas is good. If they're identical, maybe you can mix and match sets? I got my Kaplas from Target at Christmas.

I do think I will get the Kevas but perhaps order one Kapla book for "ideas."

Has anyone mixed the sets? I was looking an buying some of each from craigslist and ebay...so as to get a lot at the best price. Do you know if they are compatible: exaxt same size? It occurs to me now that the different weight of the Kapla pine and the Keva maple might present imcompatibility. Would love comments form anyone with first hand experience. Thanks!

The FAQ in the keva website might answer some of these questions.

I also see that RR carries both Kapla & Keva, so they might be an info source. Thanks for posting this topic -- I need to get some of these too!
ETA I see that Keva sells an Educators Guide.
