Ds wants to make fried worms.....

Should I let him? He's doing a research project on edible insects and found a recipe for these fried worms. So he's raiding his sisters worm bin and wants to use his camping cookware to make these. Part of me is like NO WAY but the other part is happy to see his enthusiasm. What do you think??

If he intends to eat them, I would probably say yes, on the condition that he cleans up everything himself, even his own possible reaction to eating the worms.

If he just wants to fry them for frying's sake, I would say no.

I just want to cry. I just googled whether they are edible (just making sure) and I guess they need to be purged before eating. So they are freezing them and then going to plunge them into boiling water before frying them.:001_huh:

My amercanized sensibilities are thoroughly offended.

Well, they did it!! Fried them right up! I even got the pics!!

Their reactions??

12 yo ds: "Very interesting. Next time, we'll do crickets!" :001_huh: Next time??

9 yo dd: "It doesn't taste like anything except bread crumbs."

...and even 7 yo dd: "It tastes like stale bread crumbs and worm, even though I've never had worm."


Wow..and it's not even 9:30 in the morning yet!!

Ack! My heart goes out to you! I remember reading that book in elementary school. I never got so nauseous over reading a book in my life.
