Im thinking of starting my son in the 2nd level of WWE or where ever the book suggests placement. Im afraid if I did First language lessons it would be way to heavy together on all the copywork/memory. What are your suggestions. Thanks

We are doing FLL and WWE. I just omit the copywork from FLL and use it for the grammar portion. So you could pick and choose which you take the copywork lesson from.

We are using Growing with Grammar (www.growingwithgrammar.com). It's fairly short and to the point. My kids really like it.

Same here, except we will start these on September 2! (starting light school this wednesday, then full load on September 2!)
8yo ds will be doing WWE2 and GWG3, and almost 6yo dd will be doing WWE 1 and GWG 1. :001_smile:

Same here as well! We did GWG 3 last year, and just started GWG 4 today....its so easy to teach and get through. I love it!

I am skipping most all of the copywork portions of FLL.
I am doing Level 2 of FLL and Level 1 of WWE and we are done with everything in about 20 minutes - MAX.

I could have just said :iagree:

This is basically what we do. I mark the FLL chapters that deal with parts of speech or other rules and we spend about 5 min. covering that information. Then I like to tie in the rules with our copywork (later dictation) from WWE. I have them circle the parts of speech using different colors, for example. I also make sure that I use the same definitions for different parts of speech as we cover them in Prima Latina, so they get grammar in several places, in the context of writing and in our Latin studies.

This is our plan for 2nd grade also. Just look over the lesson for each day, I won't necessarily skip copywork in FLL completely, but I will not do narrations in both book on the same day. We are only doing FLL MWF, practising memorywork (poems from FLL and memory verses) on T&Th. We will also only do WWE monday -thursday, and letters, notes, her choice, whatever pretty much on Friday.
