This is our 8th year. We intend to continue through high school. We are currently experimenting with unschooling for the rest of this year so will see how that goes.
I know the WTM and unschooling do not go hand in hand, but I love the WTM boards and am here for my support.
Thanks!
Deece

Oh rats! I just realized that I miscounted. This is our 9th year of hs'ing. I couldn't change my vote in the poll, but it should be 9 years not 8. Silly me :)

First full year (oldest ds is 3rd grade) but I did try to homeschool at the beginning of 1st grade and quit after 2 weeks!! What helped me going into this year was not having unrealistic expectations and realizing that "homeschool" is NOT "school at home". So it's been a great year!

7th school year for me (started counting with K.)

Of course, this whole thing is relative. I know a HSer who also says she's been homeschooling for 7 years, but her oldest is 9.

We started in January of 2000, so we're starting our 9th year?!

I was looking back at the journals I kept during those early years, and at the cute work my kids did back then when they were 7 and 4! Now the oldest is learning to drive and the youngest is on the cusp of puberty! Egads time is a flying!

Wow, it is hard to believe that it has been that long. We plan to school the rest of the kids all the through high school as well, so that will give me 18 more years of schooling at home. :)

I said 8 years because my oldest is in 7th grade and we had to file paperwork for kindergarten when we lived in FL. SO that makes 8 legal years, but really we've been homeschooling since birth, so it's been more like 13 years.

Well, I said six, but now that I think about it more like 7 or 8 since my very soon to be 11yo started insisting on reading and math lessons as a toddler. We will definitely go through highschool. Ds10 is already doing highschool work now for most subjects. When we run out of high school work we plan on studying subjects for CLEP exams so he can get in as much college credit as possible before he is old enough to for us to be comfortable letting him move away to school (no universities within driving distance). Ds6 is a little easier to teach so far (in other words, he is willing to go at a pace I can keep up with :) .

12 years of homeschooling here!! I started when my oldest dd was of preschool age.

I discovered TWTM in 1999, so quite a few years ago!!

Things have changed a bit since then ... my oldest is a student at the local community college, so she's only hs'ing part-time, and my youngest is in Kindergarten at the local public school (she has autism and they have a wonderful special education program there!)

So it's mostly just the two boys..but transitions are good! :)

We've been full-timing hs'ing since fall of '99, so that means we are into our 8th year.

Prior to that we were afterschooling for 3 yrs, and in those 3 yrs I taught my oldest DS to read cause the PS said he would never, ever read and there was NOTHING that anyone could do about it. Guess I'm not an anyone, just a mom with an attitude.
