View Full Version : Random Reps of Kindness

WTMindy seems to have started a lovely trend, what with her doling out "happy points" last night. I gotta tell you, it did it for me. I'm sure I've never had so much rep in one night. I'm plum wore out.
But, you know, I'm the kind of girl who really wants to do it right, phone you in the morning, tell you last night was great and that I hope to see you again sometime, maybe even tell you how I like my eggs. And, I'll gotta say...a whole lot of you just repped and ran. Fly by rep. One point stands, and out the door without so much as telling me your names. Not to mention the fact that some of you are hiding where you're not even visible. Now I feel a bit...well....trampy.
So, I just wanted you to know, whoever you are, that last night was really special. And, I like my eggs over medium.

You cracked me up with your rep comment to me last night!! :-)
I hope you still love me in the morning now that my reputation points are spent (at least for 24 hours).
I prefer mine sunny side up! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0070.gif (http://www.allthedates.com)

I have repped you before. I get around. I use up all of my rep points every 24 hours and I rarely stop to chat. Just because I want to rep you doesn't mean I want to stay for coffee.
So, now you know that I am "that" kind of reppin' girl. Can we still be friends?

I don't know about positive reps, I just wish cowards would stop spamming me with negative anonymous reps. At least have the guts to leave your name, sheesh.
And I only hand out positive reps. I see no use for the negatives, it's just a waste of good energy. :)

Can I ask you a question or two?
So, like, it won't let me rep you anymore. It says I have to rep other people first. Now, I'd like to say that I've never been into polyrepy, but if I *were* to get into it, how many other people do I have to rep before I'm allowed to rep you again? (Because, you know, of all the people I've repped, you're the best. You know it. :D)
And how many people do I have to rep before I run out of rep? I've never found out, because I just can't do it that often in one day. Maybe if I set aside one day next week, I can get ready for it, and just plan to spend the whole day repping and recovering, so that I can rep again.

Sarah, I am not sure.
I always start with a couple of people who are close to the top in rep points but have never made it to the top. They are people with long, positive posting histories and I always rep them first in hopes that I can push them on up!
You know, like voting for the homecoming queen.
Then I rep friends and people who say something really smart, in spite of where they are in the rep line. If I get told that I can't rep someone, I just move on and rep someone else and try again in another 24 hours.

I've repped you a few times. Actually, I rep any post that seems especially helpful, encouraging, or informative, and posters known to post such posts in the past.
I sometimes forget to sign my name, but also I felt a little sleazy doing it. But I want to say, "Now do me!" LOL

Since I asked for points in the thread, I repped in kind, and gave everyone else who posted there points.
However, being young and inexperienced, and this being my first time and all, I wrongly assumed that my name would show up automatically.
In doing so, I gave myself away, cheaply and anonymously.
I am guilty of anonymous repping in last night's orgy, but I am declaring secondary reppinity and will only engage in the future if the relationship is aboveboard.
It won't happen again. (I'm not sure I can bear the shame.):o

Only the last 5 reps will show up, whether they were signed or not, so if anyone got more than 5 reps last night- well, that's a bit much BUT if the reper left a note you still won't see it. Does that make sense?
I'll own up here, I was a rep slinger last night, since folks here WERE asking for it :D

Some people like quickies. They just want to rep and run without exchanging pleasantries. I think there is room on the boards for people who want to get to know their reppers and reppees, and for people who want to be less intimate in their repping.

Okay, this would be the first thing I'd do with my time for Self Education (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29582) -- figure out how rep works well enough to institute a slick system like Kelli's. Because, honestly, I have no idea about this "close to the top" business.

Well, there we have it -- a use of the word "orgy" that ties in with the Peter Pan thread (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29603).
Anyone up for a discussion of tithing rep (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29650)?

...so one out of every ten rep points must be given to our priestly caste... the moderators? ...or would it be one out of ten for those who are poor in rep?

You'd have to make sure you always leave yourself with an extra bit of rep to give to someone who just really seems like they need a little boost. They're kind of the poor in spirit, right?
Oh man, this is indeed very funny.
I've been having a veritable rep orgy today myself. I have no more for the day. I have given all of my love away. :001_smile:

I just had to kick 5yo dd out of the room so she wasn't reading this thread over my shoulder - no need for THOSE explanations yet! So here I sit trying not to laugh too loud so she won't ask what it's about.
And I'm STILL not signing my rep (all positive, I promise), because I don't want anyone to feel like they have to reciprocate. But this discussion makes that just a little more fun.... ;)

And before today... I had no reps. I didn't even think about repping other people. I was like the shy girl standing on the wall, trying to figure out what those gyrations on the dance floor were all about... the girl the others would talk to, but wouldn't want to, ahem, rep, if you know what I mean.
Then... someone opened me up to the world of repping... and my heart is full of good reps I just can't wait to give away... as soon as I earn some more to give...

I've only recently learned about repping and I didn't even realize that I'd been repped. . . but there the evidence sits in my user control panel. Totally unexpected.
I'm going to start repping when I see especially helpful posts. Nope, no begging.

I'm finally up to 26 points! (Thanks to those who kindly bestowed some lovely reps on me yesterday... Sleepy, Brindee and RebeccaC).
Yes... Random Reps of Kindness are very much appreciated...
If anyone wants some positive rep I'll send it out to you until I'm empty. Just send some positive rep to Jessica (Trivium Academy) for me. I can't right now and she's having a difficult day. Maybe it will put a smile on her face.
Just post when your done and I'll send some your way!

I empty out my rep everyday. Some days I give out all the rep too soon and someone says something clever or helpful and I'm plum out of rep :crying:
Probably 3-4 times a day, I get the spread the love message. I guess I'm always agreeing with the same people!
**I have never given negative rep and I never will. If I have that much of a problem with someone, I would probably pm them so there could be the chance for a rebuttal.

Yeah, I'm always running out of rep. It is depressing when that happens because it means I can't "play" for another 24 hours. Also the more points you give at a time the quicker you run out.
Can't positively rep you Bean Sprout's. Don't know why. Haven't rep'd you lately. Grrrr.

When you get to 1000 posts you give 2 reps everytime you give some? How many do we have to give out each day? I always forget to count!

I think with two squares and 1000 posts I might be giving out three points, but I am not exactly sure. I will have to rep somebody tomorrow so you can tell me.
