some people!
Tajikistan is one of the poorest ex-soviet countries and it usually doesn't get too cold in the winter. But the last few weeks have been merciless. Water pipes are freezing (people having to walk a long way to get any), sewage pipes are freezing, even gas pipes. Electricity is never too good here in the winter, but most towns are down to a few hours a day now, the capital has got a bit more. But that might soon stop, too, because the water intakes for the hydroelectric powerplants are freezing too.
The better of can heat by other means, the poor are just cold and some babies and old people don't make it.
That made me wonder if some of you could pray for warmer weather and that the power plants won't have to shut off totally? (That would mean no electricity whatsoever, for hospitals,....)

Thanks,

Sounds like Minnesota, only with really bad infrastructure issues. I am sorry you are experiencing this! I have a friend who used to live in Tajikistan and some still in the other "stans".
So much for global warming, eh?

I'll pray for warmer weather and that power is able to be kept on. Stay warm.

Are you in Tajikistan? We used to live in Kyrgyzstan. We had a really cold week the winter we were there that caused problems, but nothing like it's been this winter in Tajikistan. I've been hoping things settle down soon.

That sounds awful! I hope things get better for you all soon. It is shocking in this day and age that people still suffer much as the always have.
Hoping for everything to come right for you all there.

Sorry to say that right now it's getting colder, rather than warmer. But I'll write when the prayers have been answered (and I've got electricity!).

That's terrible-- I hope you and your family are okay! That is very alarming for all the fragile people who live there. You are in my prayers.
