The strangest thing happened tonight. We have this light fixture over the dining room table that contains a single giant bulb hanging downwards. We were eating dinner and all of the sudden the bulb part fell onto the table and shattered. This particular bulb had been in the fixture for several years.

It was a miracle that no one got hurt, with the glass flying around.

Has anyone else ever experienced such a thing?

terrific black wedge of clouds came barreling in. The pressure changed so rapidly, the lightbulbs all exploded.

I also recall a thunderbolt that stuck a nearby pole, giving some sort of surge that shattered the bulb over the dining room table (no other ones), my mother had just put the gravy on the table (nothing else) and had to chuck it. Oh, I recall the mutterings and certain blue words. There is something about the rare-swearer....they know how to use it but only bring it out for extra special moments.

My parents had their whole ceiling fan/light fixture fall on the kitchen table without warning. Luckily they were not eating there at the time.

The reason I ask this is because one of the light bulbs in a fixture in our basement fell out like that, shattering into a million pieces all over the floor. No one was down there at the time, thankfully, but when we discovered it, we couldn't figure out what had happened. Then we realized that the boys running around on the main floor had loosened all the bulbs, and there were actually several other loose ones too! We had to go around and tighten all the bulbs in the basement!
