Any recommendations for learning Japanese for a 12yo, 6th grade?

The only program for Japanese that my dd has liked is Instant Immersion Japanese. Unfortunately, there is only one level and my dd finished it one year ago.

She tried Pimsleur Japanese on eaudio through netlibrary, but said that it was too boring.

She tried Irrashai through Georgia PBS, but said that she was losing what she'd learned with Instant Immersion.

I have seen people post positive reviews of Yes Japan! on the high school board, but I'm not willing to pay $15/month.

I speak Japanese and I am going to use the BYU online program for my dd net year 8th grade and modify it for my 5th grader. The most important beginning learning will be katakana and hiragana and greetings, country and food. I used to teach college Japanese and it is a slow process- the best thing is to pick up move there LOL;)

Well I have picked up and moved here. Unfortunately I'm still really struggling. However my 5.5yo is doing great of course. He's good. He gives just the slightes eye roll/sigh before saying "No Mommy, you say it like this...." Yes, it's quite the ego boost being tutored/corrected by the 5.5 yo!

Can you please tell me more about the BYU online program?
