Horizons math 2

I recieved the 2 workbooks for horizons math 2 today from book samaritan. I wasn't sent the teacher's handbook so I'm wondering if it is an essential part of the program? The handbooks cost about $50 which I really can't afford right now. Can I get away without having it? I'm not that great in math, and it looks like the workbooks really don't teach, they just give practice.

You'll notice in the exercises that there's skip counting, go by the lessons and make sure you skip count with your dc each lesson, this will prime them for the multiplication that is coming up around lesson 60? (not in front of me), otherwise there are teaching helps in the TM if you feel you need it, buy it used, if you only need occasional help, just email me and I'll help you.
