I was wondering if you continued MUS through HS or if you switched at some point? If you did change curriculum then what curriculum is good for the kid who needs to learn the way MUS teaches? I'm just trying to look ahead, and I've heard that a lot of people switch at Algebra. Thanks

to Jacobs for both Algebra I and Geometry and then moved on to Foersters for Al II, Trig and pre-calculus. I intend to stick with Foerster for Calculus as well. I felt that Jacobs was a good way to switch because he is very thorough in explaining the whys of math, which was why we had gone the MUS route in the first place. I wanted a really strong High school math program and felt that Jacobs followed by Foerster would get us there. I was not confident that MUS would do that. Of course, at that time MUS did not go as high as it does now so I am really not sure what the strengths or weaknesses of the newer MUS courses are. To me, Algebra was the logical point to make the switch.

For my dd we stayed with MUS. She's finishing up the Pre-Calculus course now. The program is pretty much set up the way the younger years are but I found as you got higher the less explanations they had. They still explained the concept but left out some of the steps so she's had to figure some of it out. She's really good in math so she hasn't had a problem with it. Her SAT scores were very good so I feel like MUS has prepared her pretty well. With my son, we've switched to TT. He needs more of the step by step instructions. I felt like he might get frustrated esp when he reached Alg II. He really likes it and so far is doing well. He hasn't taken the SAT yet so I can't give you info on that aspect of TT. I don't think there would be any problem using MUS. I have heard of lots of other families who got the same result we did when they used it all the way. I'd use it again without any problem.
