Quick question for those of you who have purchased HOAC. I am considering purchasing one of their project packs in Ebook version.
This particular one is says it is 54 pages. Inside the book, does it give you all the information on the chosen topic? Will this project pack be enough to cover the topic sufficiently or will I need to supplement and go to the library?? Or is it just and idea book on how to lay out a lapbook (including templates, I understand) and it is up to me to fill in the information?
Sorry, I'm new to this and don't want to spend the money only to find out I have to spend hours finding information as well.

It will have everything you need in the guide to complete the booklets for the lapbook. It does have suggested reading book, link, etc if you choose to expand on it.
Download the freebie DEER (http://www.handsofachild.com/shop/Deer-Ebook-P669.aspx) and that will give you a better idea of what is included in the project packs.

Tina...
Have you bought from HOAC before or do you make your own lapbooks? I did d/l the deer one and then saw your post afterwards. The 5 senses one is rated K-6 which seems like a huge age range. DD works at about gr2 level.
I really need something no-brainer right about now- well no-brainer for me, not DD! She'd enjoy a no-brainer activity too, but that would defeat the purpose!
Anyways, I digress... have you been happy with HOAC or do you prefer to make your own? I have to admit it is very tempting to just get the pre-packaged stuff...

I like it a lot. All the info. you need is right inside. The first so many pages will be all the info, with the activities and "fold-its" following. The Five Senses seemed doable w/ a second grader from what I could see. You won't need any more information, but I'd get some colorful books on the 5 senses from the library. Aliki has one called The FIve Senses that my younger kids enjoyed last year. Short, simple, to the point. She could probably read it on her own.

I agree with everything Sue mentioned. :) Your dd will do fine with that lapbook. It is a large age range because you can adapt it to their ability. For example, they hand write everything out their own (vs. them dictating to you), have them read a book from the suggested book, and so on. The book also gives suggestion on how to adapt it for older and younger kids.
I have used several of HOAC lapbooks and haven't been disappointed yet. I have never created one on my own, but I have created a booklet or 2 on my own to add to a lapbook we were doing.
With that said, I am putting the finishing touches on my 1st lapbook I did create on my own. But I haven't used it with the kids yet. That will be the real test. :D

We have done several of the HOAC lapbooks with the boys ages 9 and 11. I have been extremely happy with all of them. As far as the age gap, I expect the older ds to add more info and do a little extra research on some of the booklets. They are almost like mini reports.
