View Full Version : Can anyone recommend the Friday Night Knitting Club or People of the Book?
I'm looking for my next book ~ Thanks!

Pluses:
Wide variety of cultures & historical periods evoked.
Some vivid imagery.
Interesting accounts of book conservation.
Minuses:
Awkward, dull writing.
Trite main character: tough-talking, blunt, promiscuous, highly talented professional woman who has a difficult parent. (Trite at least to me, having encountered this character in many mystery novels.)
Since I read the far superior *The Historian* a couple of years ago, I've been looking for something as good, & haven't found it.
HTH & YMMV as they say...

I have the Friday Night Knitting Club waiting to be read myself. I have just gotten addicted to knitting and couldn't resist. Sorry, haven't started reading it yet to offer an opinion though. Let's just read it together next, ok?:)
