View Full Version : Is there a reason why I can't machine wash my ds's 100% polyester suit?

Stupid question of the day, I guess.
Of course it says dry clean only on it, but do I have to do it that way? Why? He got a small spot on it- pizza sauce- that is my only concern about trying to wash it in my washer.

Can you tell I never use the dry cleaner?- if I do take it to the cleaner's today, will I have it back by Friday when he needs it again?

I wouldn't. It might be fine, but it would be expensive to replace if not. Also, suits are horrible to have to iron -- you probably wouldn't be able to get it looking right without a lot of work. I would use the cleaner. A lot of places have same-day service if you get it in before 9 a.m. Otherwise it's ready the next day.

Thanks, Katherine. It wasn't an expensive suit- got it for $20. at Value Village, but you are right- it would probably cost me a lot more than that to replace it by Friday. And I have never seen a suit like this one before, lol. It is a pale yellow, with blue plaid markings. My dh calls it his clown suit, but not in front of him. He wears it well, and no one else on any of the speech and debate teams looks near as snazzy as he.
THere is a cleaners right by the grocery store, so I will drop it off today. Thanks.

Make sure you point out the stain to the cleaners when you drop it off so that they can pay special attention to it.

Thanks, Janet. I forgot to do so when I was dropping it off, but I just called and told them, and they had already noticed it! Yay.
