Our classroom this morning. Except that no one is actually doing any work. They look nice and busy though, don't they? Anyhow, since I missed the original schoolroom thread I thought I'd start another. Ours is just all business now, I sorta miss the elementary school stuff, with a sofa for reading and cute little posters on the wall, and a shelf for toys. We still have tons of books, but the bookshelves are behind my desk. Where's your schoolroom?

My school room is all in boxes at the moment, we are moving in a week.

While it will be nice for ds to one day grow up, I know I will miss the snuggle on the couch time.

Our school room is the breakfast counter. No posters, no maps, nothing on the wall; just a counter and a book case.

There's a panoramic view on my blog (see siggy). When we do crafts we set up the card table in the middle of the room. We don't start until Monday, Aug. 11.

ETA: I couldn't get my pic to post. I never can! I just don't understand it! Oh well, pics on my blog!

Looks good!!

Our school room is what's supposed to be the formal living room. I have bookcases, a desk, and a corner table (like a breakfast nook table. I hate that word. Nook. Ick.).

Any-hoo....your room looks nice and big! I miss some of that elementary stuff too, but the room had to change with the kiddos. We just repainted it and got the new bookcases. I have no pictures. Maybe later. :D

Your room looks like a quiet, peaceful place to learn. We gave up the school room as mine grew. The dining room and computer rooms are where we focus our learning.

Your schoolroom looks great.

I'm becoming inspired to toy with the idea of removing the teddy bears rowing boats wallpaper from ours.

OTOH, it would be easier just to send the kids to you. Does your class have room for 4 more students? :D

ooo peaceful learning space indeed

I am toying with the idea of a school room again. This is our first time actually having the space for it. But once we moved in I was pg sick and NOT spending my day sitting upstairs..I did a lot of bedside/couchside schooling ;) But maybe now we can try it upstairs.

We don't have a set room to school in, but we DO have the same two maps up in our livingroom! :)

Our school room is an indoor play space for the summer. I will begin setting up soon, and will post pictures in a few weeks :001_smile:

We school in the kitchen mostly but also use the livingroom. I finally took some pictures this morning at 8 am while all 4 kids were still sleeping, (of course they woke up at 8:10 which is why I am just getting the pics on now at quarter to 2). Of course the bottom pictures taken earlier today prove you don't need a schoolroom to get some work done ;)

As you walk down the stairs to the main floor you find this in the hallway

1 wall in the kitchen has the white board and posters. Against it is a tea cart with our MUS manips on the bottom, take to your seat centers and buckets holding my pens etc, crayons, markers, pencils and pencil crayons for the kids on top. Then there is a 3 shelved unit to hold the workbooks and binders the kids are currently using, 1 shelf per kid.

On the adjacent wall is my large bookshelf of the books we are currently using, and my teach guides etc. On top I store extra science kits, such as our dissection stuff, blood testing kits etc.

Right next to the bookshelf is a cabinet I use to store manips, instruction dvd's, cd's etc. On top is our globe, human torso model and the deer bones we found on our camping trip for the kids to explore. Above it is the first big display I have every made, as soon as I order a second display case I will mount my other set of insects etc.

Next to that cabinet is our science table which currently has a balance on it, and models of varies kinds of cells incl red blood cell, white blood cell, bacteria, virus etc. Underneath is a bucket of the books they need to read that week and 2 stacked buckets of extra things I need like flashcards to create games etc.

On the kitchen counter right now is their model of the Nile river and the science experiements they are doing in their TOPS books I had to move these off the science table when the baby started eating them

continued from above. The livingroom wall has my world map and other posters that didn't fit in the kitchen.

Of course as I said above, you don't need a schoolroom at all
Here is Austin with his shades on in the backyard working hard.

Ceilidh decided a picnic table pulled up to the swing set worked best

Yes, there's room, over on the right is a table that comfortably seats four. Lets, see, your triplets, my triplets and then our extra dds. That would give me five 14 yr old boys, then girls 12, 14 and 15. Oh yeah. I do need some extra insanity in my life.

(Can any of your children ride??)

No, but I hereby give you permission to teach them!

Hmmm... this is sounding more and more like a good idea.
