A local place here recently offered a $10 per month deal with a $20 sign-up. No contract. They have lots of different machines, but no childcare or classes. You can pay for a private trainer, though.

I thought that was a pretty great deal -- something we could actually afford. Plus, it's only 2 blocks from our home, so it's on my way home from anywhere.

We used to belong to the Y -- a lot more to offer for the whole family, but it was more money and farther away. It was more of a hassle, so I rarely went.

Hope I'll stick with this!

But the Y was $77 a month...and I know it's gone up to $79 now.

I looked at another gym and they were about the same. Both offer childcare for free.

We pay just over $100 per month for the entire family at Lifetime Fitness. But it's not just a gym, it's also got a huge outdoor pool with waterslides, and indoor pool with waterslides and an indoor lap pool, basketball courts, rockclimbing wall, racquetball, lots of classes, etc. Plus two hours of childcare per child per day are included in that. We love it, but we do cringe a bit paying that each month.

Before Lifetime opened we were members at the Y for about $60 per month. Our Y doesn't have very good options for kids, so it was easy to leave.

We belong to the Y in another town. It's the closest and, for us, cheapest option (they offer scholarships). With the scholarship, we pay $27 and change a month for our whole family and we get big discounts on classes. We are there a couple times a week and consider it money well spent. Sounds like you've found a great deal - enjoy!

We belong to the Y. We pay $58/month. My kids take a homeschool P.E. class four days a week. (I think it was $10 for all five of them to register) We love it!

We just joined the new Y in the next town over, $74/month for the family, no joiner fee right now. It will be a 10mile drive to it, but it is on the way to many places we go. Plus it is on DH's way to and from work and he so needs to add PE to his life.

I will be able to pull my DS out of his 2x weekly swim workout and use the $35/month for that toward the Y membership, which is how I'm justifiying it. And I so need to workout and swimming is my favorite way to do that.

I got a deal through a promotion, but with unlimited childcare included, mine comes out to $39 a month for 14 months. I got the bonus 2 months because I paid in one lump sum, instead of over time.
