Hello everyone! I haven't been here in a while, and things are . . . so . . . different!!!!! Wow! Let's see if I can figure it all out . . .
My dd is working on a project for Awana and needs to interview five adults. If a few Christians could answer these quick questions, that would be tremendously helpful:
1. When did you trust Christ as your Saviour? (I'm assuming they want an age, not an exact date.)
2. Did you trust Christ because of a lesson or verse you heard? If so, can you tell a bit about it?
On behalf of my daughter, who suggested you all might be the ones to ask -- thank you so much for your help!!!
Hi!
I was in 3rd grade, so I was about 8 yrs old. I responded to an invitation at Vacation Bible School. THe lesson is vague, but something about Christ dying on the cross to take away our sins ;)

I had a wonderful Sunday School teacher and she just showed God's love in her life. I accepted Christ that fall and was baptized when I turned 9. At that point in my life, John 3:16 was one of the main verses they taught us.

I finally understood that knowing the answers wasn't enough. I had head knowledge, but I needed heart knowledge. Saying the words in church wasn't believing, asking Jesus into my heart was.

I was 15, a friend invited me to a christian band concert. After the concert, the pastor- Greg Laurie, showed a film he made on teen suicide. I had been toying with thoughts of suicide. The verse I remember was Psalm 27:10 "When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me." I had never heard that before, and it was what I needed to hear. Kind of dark maybe for awanas? just tell her I was 15 and really, really sad.
I went forward at the alter call and my life was very different from then on.

I was 12 when I accepted Christ. I had never gone to church before, and after a couple of months I was invited to our youth leader's home where I accepted Christ. It wasn't a verse; it was the relationships with the people that made a difference for me.
See you tonight! :D

I was 26 when I accepted Christ as Savior. I was "churched" all my life in a Lutheran church but never knew how to have a relationship w/ Christ. It was at an Amway function that one of the leaders (an incredible preacher!) preached about God's gift to us; the gift of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit really moved on me and I responded to the invitation to make Christ my Savior that day. I must say, thought, that it wasn't so much that ONE message that moved me b/c God had already put so many Christians in my life who were praying for my salvation.

I'll be the odd ball :-)
i honestly don't remember ever NOT trusting in Christ.
That question always strikes *me* as akin to asking "when did you finally realize your dad was your dad?"
My knowledge and understanding of my relationship w/ Christ has grown, but like kids and dad --I've always known and trusted my heavenly family :-)
I guess it depends on when you were adopted into the family :)

I accepted Christ when I was 18. It was the very first time I had heard a presentation of the gospel. It blew me away, because for the first time in my life things made sense.
