Here's what I have for language arts for my 3rd grade dd:
--Spelling Workout D
--Writing w/Ease
--Writing Tales (bought this first and then saw WWE and couldn't resist getting that as well)
--First Language Lessons 3
I'm so confused over what to use...after my first "onceover" it seems WWE, WT and FFL all include grammar. My daughter does well with grammar. We've done FLL 1 & 2 and part of 3 so far. I think it moves slow. My first question is, should I drop FLL? Is there anything that wouldn't be covered by WWE and WT? My second question is, is anyone else planning on combining WWE and WT? If so, how do you plan to do so? I really like both programs. WT seems more writing focused while WWE seems to cover all language arts. Any help would be appreciated!!

For my 3rd grader this year we are doing a modified combo of WWE concepts and lite IEW. So, I'm with you on pulling what you like from WT and WWE. Grammar we study informally through teachable moments during dictation, while reading, when talking about dress ups, etc..

Well, FLL3 will give you diagramming, and while I'm not sure I'm guessing you won't get that in WT? If it were *me* I would drop WT and do FLL3 and WWE. WWE will help coach narrations and (depending on which level you choose) use copywork or dictation and gradually build up to written narrations. Doesn't WT assume the student is already doing written narrations? I haven't used WT, but that was my impression.
If nothing else, my response will give you a bump and maybe some other folks will give you their ideas.

I was mulling around the same thing, because I had my heart set on WT and switched it up when I saw WWE (awesome, isn't it?). Maybe go quickly through WWE, doing half the exercises and then do the writing portion of WT for the second half of the year? For grammar, look through the lessons and decide on an individual basis which teaches it in a more fun way? I do know that though there is some grammar in WT, WT is not a complete grammar program and does not claim to be.

IMHO - I would not drop FLL3, but I do not think you need both WT and WWE. I remember reading (somewhere in that very long sticky) that SWB recommends that if you are doing FLL and WWE, that you might want to cut out some of FLL's narrations.

Thank you Carmen. I knew I read it somewhere. I just couldn't remember where.
