I was wondering how people use/schedule BCM. And I know this is trivial, but I was also wondering if you let your child write in the book or if you have them rewrite the problems on a separate sheet of paper. If you let them write in the book do you keep the pages intact or tear them out? We're getting ready to start this and I'm not sure there is enough space for DS to work all the problems in the book so I'm thinking there will be some that he needs to work on a separate sheet of paper. I'm trying to decide if I just get a binder and put all the math sheets, loose pages and book pages, together. I would love to hear how others have used this book.
Thanks so much,
Debbie

I had my sons write out the problems on paper. We just did one lesson after the next, they did all the problems on the pages when concepts are taught and odd problems only for the exercises because the odd answers are in the answer key :o I usually gave them 2 days, maybe 3 for the exercises.

answers on the "front" page with any problem solving done on the "back" page. I have him work the odds (as Karen says, those answers are all in the back!!). He just works for 45-60 minutes per day and gets as far as he gets. Then starts the next day where he left off.
So far, so good. We like this text.

We're in unit 4 now. My ds hasn't had any trouble with writing out the answers in the book. Sometimes there is lack of space for long problems, but flows over to some of the space from the even problems. I don't plan on him writing out any of the problems on paper.
Since my ds is in 7t h grade and using this as a gap fixer, we are attempting to move through the material fairly quickly. He does all the examples in a lesson one day, then all the odd lesson problems (exercises) the next day. There have only been a couple of times the exercises were so long we broke it up into 2 days. I have more frequently broken up the review pages though, they can be too long for a day's work.
