lots of fluids, Mucinex, Delsym, hot tea, cough drops? I am so miserable from the cough. It is not very productive so I feel like I am banging my lungs against my ribs. My back is sore from it. I went to the doc today and she said it isn't in my lungs, but up higher, but not in my head. She labeled it acute bronchitis.
Any other sure fire cough remedies????
Thanks,
Whitney

Apparently some people have had lots of relief from coughing by rubbing their feet with Vick's Vapor Rub... It has been in the news a lot lately... DH has several co-workers who said it worked great.
It did NOT work on my coughing when I had 'whooping cough' this past fall (well I still have it)...but it might be worth a try in your case.
Coughing is no fun...I am almost at day 100 with mine--but it is VERY minor now.

on the top of the foot or all over or just on the bottom?
Thanks,

I think just on the bottom. Put it on liberaly, then put on a pair of socks. ((((Whitney))) I hope you feel better soon. Oh, and if you have a cool mist humidifier, that might help too.

Boy do I feel badly for you. I had whooping cough a few years back and it was one of the most miserable times of my life!
Anyway, Jean in Wisc. suggested eating lots of raw onions. I think it really helped me...it helped my chest feel more open, too.
Also, you might want to ask the doc for a prescription cough syrup with codeine. If you take it at night it will help you sleep and give your body a rest from the wracking cough. May God grant you comfort, soon!

for all your suggestions. The vicks did not help. :o( I wish it had. I feel like someone has pounded me in the back with a bat.

The last time I had bronchitis (and for me, it is ALWAYS this bad), nothing seemed to stop the cough. The doctor finally prescribed a codeine cough syrup that worked, but it was really expensive. For the next round, he just prescribed a generic codeine tablet, and you know what? It worked better than anything I've ever tried (and I've had chronic, recurring bronchitis for over 20 years).
Another thing that helps is a good, hefty shot of whiskey. (But don't take it with the codeine!)

Yep, that was always the remedy given to me by my grandpa. Add a little honey and hot water, and you've got yourself a beneficial hot toddy. Hmmm....my dd is sitting next to me coughing and coughing....perhaps a bit of a toddy might help her and all the rest of us sleep! ;)

I was sick over the Christmas hols. and my MIL sent a bottle of this stuff over for me to try. It truly worked though I admit I hadn't expected it to.
I'll link to the site so you can check if it's available in your area.
