Book on Andrew Jackson?

I need a good book for my 7th graders on A.J. I do not want something "sweetsied" up because the guy just wasn't all that great (we're focusing on the Trail of Tears and his role in it). I read one in college that was phenomenal but of course can't remember the title now. If anyone has a suggestion for a book that presents a very realistic view of him I'd sure appreciate it!

I'm also looking for living books centered on the Gold Rush.
