After 9+ years of homeschooling (and 8 years on the WTM boards), I had to put all three of my kids (ds13, dd12, and ds7) in public school this past fall. for the most part, I have been thrilled with our wonderful local school district, even though ds7 has been a bit bored in math.
Then THIS (post above) happened tonight.
So. This is my first time here. What do we do on THIS board? :D

Good to see you over here. I am currently looking for supplemental math resources for my DS12.

What kind of resources? Does he need extra help, or is he ahead of the usual material?

can be very frustrating or rewarding depending on how resistant your child is. I have one that loves it and two that balk. Your son sounds open so you're in the lucky category.
Just teach the lesson and let him take the time he needs to complete the "homework".

I'm not very happy with the pace of math at school. He participates in a weekly algebra class taught by two parents of classmates in the home of one of them. Both of those parents have mentioned to me that DS is the student who seems the most interested and the most eager to learn new material. So I'm hoping to provide him with some resources for learning more advanced material.

Welcome to the world of ASing. The thorn in my son's side is math at PS as well. And yes I notice a regression when school starts. Unfortunately, he's starting to resist doing math at home as well. I'm actually considering HSing him.

HI Katherine ~ I'm new to afterschooling this year after 5 years of homeschooling. I really miss it. But, I'm still teaching at a tutorial, so I get my "fix."
