My parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniv and my father turns 80, so we're combining and I'm in charge of planning the whole event. It takes place Aug 24th, it will be at our church and invitations have all been sent.
If anyone has been to an anniversary party would you mind telling me any unique creative things/ideas for making this a special time?
One thing I'm unsure about is seating arrangement. Do my parents sit at a head table? If so, who sits with them? Many of these people see my parents only once every 10 years or so (our family/friends are scattered), so if they sit at a head table they wouldn't be able to visit with them, but OTOH I'd like them to be a place of honor (or something).
I have some ideas of things to do:
-slide show of pics to music
-Cds playing 40s music in the background during party
-I've put a bid in on ebay for a bunch of Life mags from 1948--I'd place them around the tables
-Here's a game I thought of: my dad was born in 1928, they were married 1948, so having a short game called "Which year was it?" I'd list a series of world events/etc.. and they'd have to guess if the event occurred in 28 or 48. (is that a stupid idea?)
All other ideas would be very, very welcome!
