Tonight on the local news they told of a boy who had been playing catch w/a teammate and turned his head away just as the other boy threw. The ball hit him under his ear and he collapsed. His coach did CPR to no avail.
I'm so sad for everyone who cared about this boy.

How sad, I'll be in prayer for that family.

Chelle,
That is so very sad - just heartbreaking. I can't imagine what that boy's parents are going through. We are so fragile - life is so fragile. I will pray for the family that God will give hold them close at this sorrowful time.

You know, I'm not really an extreme worrier or anything, but I was so relieved when our oldest son got out of baseball and have hesitated signing our younger ones up. We saw some pretty bad hits when our oldest was playing. I know -- greater chances of having an auto accident. For me, though, I'm content finding other avenues for my boys.
When Nathan played teeball two years ago, very often the ball would fly right past his head. He was busy picking dandelions for me or looking elsewhere. That really freaked me out. Talk about kids with no aim. LOL

Thanks, you guys. I really am just so sad! I have a ds13 who's a baseball player and just happens to be in the 3rd day of a 9 day trip w/my parents, so that's not helping. I want to hug him!
Yes, the fragility of life hits me head-on at times like this. The way it was so sudden. I can picture the boy running out to the car yelling, "Bye!" to his mom, then she walks by his room a few minutes later and sighs because it's so messy and then gets "the call".
Thank you for praying for them. I believe they will feel it.
