I will be using RS level c with ds next year and I am wanting to supplement with the singapore word problems. Do you suggest I use grade 2? I am not sure if it will be covering the same topics as RS. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!
No, use grade 1 to supplement with the word problems. I'm using Singapore's CWP grade 1 this year with Right Start Level C and it is just right. I'm planning to use grade 2 with Level D next year.

I have two boys in RS. The oldest is in Lev. E and just completed CWP 3 and is starting 4. I started him in book 3 this year. My younger is in 2nd grade doing RS C. I started right in CWP 2 and he grasps the concepts fine but unfortunately we ran into problems with him needing to do subtraction with trading and he had not learned it yet. It would probably be a better experience starting with CWP 1.. I also recommend the book " The Essential Guide to Primary Maths", I got mine from Rainbow Resources. This book is pretty mathy but it gives the big picture to the word problems and how they are solved.

I have one that is doing RS and Singapore CWP. She just started RS D and is working in the 2 book. She's bored to tears. However, I try to make sure that she learns it in RS before she gets to it in Singapore. And, if I'm treading water for whatever reason, I get the Singapore texts and she does those.
I've recently added Mindbenders to keep her busy. ;)
Challenge Math by Zaccarro is recommended by RS. The elementary series might have what you are looking for.

Blossom's girl...does the Essential Parent's Guide go over bar diagrams? I would assume so but there is another book sold by Singapore Math which discusses bar diagrams.
