View Full Version : If you've used HO2 Ancients, I have a ?

I will have 4 dc doing Ancients this year. I've chosen Mosaic for my grammar student and History Odyssey for my 2 logic students and 1 rhetoric student. (I plan to include HO3 books for my rhetoric dd.)

Mosaic uses Usborne Internet Linked as a spine and supplements with SOTW1. It does not do SOTW in the order it was written. It does each culture and then moves on to the next.

I lined up the HO2 lessons to coincide with Mosaic. If we do it this way we'll all be studying the same civilizations at the same time. These 4 dc have not read SOTW1 and I plan to have them read the stories themselves and do the SOTW1 tests to practice their writing and reading comprehension skills.

Here's my question (thanks for staying with me) -- Is it possible to do HO2 this way? Can I change the order of the lessons and not see any significant complications?

Thanks so much,
Kelli

We completed HO Ancients 2 last year. I am not sure if you will run into trouble or not. There are a number of lessons where you are to continue an outline that was started earlier. Of course, maybe your outline will just be a bit out of order (not necessarily wrong), so it may not matter anyway. Maybe you won't be doing the outlining in HO anyway. It wasn't clear from your post.

Good luck!

Sorry I wasn't very clear. There was a lot of background noise when I was writing my post. :)

I plan to use HO the way it is written (including all the lessons), just rearranging the order of some.

I thought the timeline assignments might cause trouble. I will look at them more closely and see if I need to work around that aspect.

Thank you for the response.

I don't think the 3 timeline assignments will cause you trouble. When you do those exercises, the time periods are scattered throughout the notebook anyway. We referred back to Kingfisher a lot for those assignments as well.

HTH!
