My friend just called to tell of something she saw in the paper today. She lives on my street, about 1/2 mile down. This street is a meandering street that runs almost the whole length of our town. Our particular area is modest, lots of retirees and mixed in are some younger families.
Anyway, a couple was taking a walk right in front of where my friend lives. A car pulled over to ask a question of the couple. Next thing you know, the young man pulls a gun on them asking for the man's wallet! OMG! This is right down the road from me! I hate not feeling like it is safe to let my kids out to play in our yard. What makes someone get to the point where they feel this is the best option? That's just scary.
ETA: Okay, I just read the article online. It appears this happened around midnight as did another one likely by the same guy. I feel better about that. My kids are not going to be out at midnight!
