We're starting tomorrow. Any advice? K is reading fluently and I have the CD, but I've never studied Latin myself so a bit nervous....

You will be fine.
We pulled out the CD when we learned our vocabulary.

The program taught me we need variety in our materials. It was the same day after day: so you might want to study it leisurely. I wanted to do Latin every day but it didn't hold our interest enough for that, unfortunately.

We started PL last fall and it has gone very well. We try to get to Latin 4 days/week. Day 1 we listen to the CD, and go over the 1st two pages, minus the Derivatives section. Day 2 we listen to the CD and do the 3rd page. Day 3 we listen to the CD, do the 4th page. Day 4 we review and do the Vocab. Drill Form form the TM. It is all very easy and my DDs (even the 3yo) have quickly learned the Latin.

In addition we follow the TM suggestions to use Latin as much as possible in our everyday conversations. The first week, the girls were saying, "Let's hit the via, Mama!" and thought it was soooo funny! We say, "Oremus," before each prayer and say the Sanctus each night as a part of our bedtime prayers.

For us, Latin is very light and fun. They really enjoy learning their new words each week and are always looking for an opportunity to insert Latin words into everyday conversation.

My dd7 really likes the routine of Prima Latina. And she loves Mrs. Leigh on the DVDs. We try to at least listen to the vocab on the CD everyday. Here is what we try for: Mon - DVD, vocab later in the day, flash cards and/or the CD; Tues- Just vocab because that is our crazy day with activities in three different counties!; Wed- worksheet; Thurs vocab review; Friday - the other worksheet. Dd really likes to play memory type games with the Latin on one card and the English on the other.

We start PL in 3rd and my dc to great with it. We do the first lesson Monday and make flash cards for the vocab, listen to the cd, and practice the prayers. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thurs. we complete the workbook and study the flashcards and prayers. He's even been able to recognize derivatives when we are not doing Latin. I love that! Today my ds12, who is in LC 2 figured out the meaning of a word during his reading using only the Latin root. I was so stinkin' proud of him!
