We found this be easy to use and adaptable. It is designed to be used as a combo Bible, Literature and History course, but we only need history because we already had Bible and Literature covered through other avenues. We just skipped the literature and Bible portions, used the text and the source readings. We also used the Teaching Company's History of the United States video lectures to supplement.
My ds, who is not a history fan liked this better than anything else we have ever done. He especially liked these videos. I think they may be on sale right now....I seem to remember seeing a sale flyer on them very recently, but I'm not sure what the end date was.

We're using Notgrass right now and it's working out very well. It was an unexpected turn for me; I had planned to use TruthQuest, but after my dd used TQ for a year, she confessed that she wanted something more, well, schoolish. Very surprising to me, but I'm glad I listened. We also plan to use Notgrass for world history and government. I'll be adding in more books, though - old dreams die hard. :)

My oldest started out with Bailey's "The American Pageant" in 11th, but then chose to take US History I & II at the community college instead. But she did enjoy the text!
I'm not sure what I'll be using for my current 9th grader when he reaches 11th (he has special needs and Bailey's may be too "advanced" for him, so I'm considering Notgrass as well)

I will be using TOG YR3 with my guys - 9th and 11th grades. This covers American and world history during the 19th centurey. The next year, we will use TOG YR 4 for 20th century American and world history. My younger son doesn't love TOG as much as my older son does, so I may do something different with him when he is in 11th and 12th grade to cover world history and geography.
Blessings,

We used Notgrass, too. I didn't use this for World History, but am planning to use it for government next year. We did Lightning Lit along with Notgrass and it worked out well.

We like TQ because of its flexibility, and have adapted it to fit WTM chronology. We like the commentary (you won't find anywhere else!), the book selections, and the "worldview" included in the study. It works very well with WTM and includes some writing analyses assignments. I assign additional papers, including a research paper.
It's not scheduled day-by-day like TOG, but covers everything in whatever depth you deem necessary.
