I'm looking for an EASY to use web site creator.

I want to make a web site for my online tutoring business--remember emphasis on the EASY (I rather not deal with HTML codes).

TIA
Jann

Hi Jann,

I used Freewebs (http://members.freewebs.com/) to create a site for our homeschool group. I remember paying $45 per year for it. It was very easy to set up.

If you have a MAC-iweb is the easiest I, personally, have every used.

I can save you alot of time and money, oh and immense frustration. I have a wonderful woman that made a website for us. She is reasonable and very creative. I had spent so much on books and sit here day after day trying to figure it all out.
You could at least email her and see what she would charge. I know she does small and large sites.
Let me know if you are interested and I can give you her email address.
Sincerely,
Amber

My kids us Google Page Creator, which is free. We also have some very cheap websites through 1 & 1 internet. I paid $24 for 6 months of hosting for a basic site. We also have registered domain names for about $6 yr each through the same company.

This isn't probably helpful, but I use Dreamweaver.
You don't have to know code to use it and it was fairly easy for me to learn. It's kind of expensive though since it's a "professional" program.

Do you just want an internet presence for your business with contact info or do you want clients to be able to sign up for services, log in, chat or have a forum...? How will they use your site--do you need a shopping cart; how will they pay?

There are so many free options that you just need to decide what your site will do for both you and your clients. :) (Sorry, I don't know if you have a current website and if so, what it already does!)

I've been tutoring for over 25 years through word-of-mouth or postings at our local library. Now that I've moved to online tutoring DH thinks I need to get a web site. I probably do since I have more time on my hands now that my 2 older girls are more independent (middle dd may or may not be in PS this fall)--youngest dd will be going to PS...

I really felt the tug to go back to full-time teaching (especially after teaching in Uganda this summer)--but our family still needs me around...older girls are getting CLOSE to college age--and "I'm" the college plan!

Thanks Amber for your contact--I'll look into her if I get bogged down with the do-it-yourself ones (or if I decide I want to do a more complex site).

Here is a link to my personal site - My Site (http://www.homewithcandles.com)

Keep in mind that each page & all links, photos, etc...were done without any HTML...just point, click, type like you would in a word processing program.

There are hundreds of templates to choose from and each one is customizable. This builder also includes a forums and newsletter option.

Scroll to the bottom of my website & you'll see a link for a free 10 day trial of their builder.

Or, email me your email addy & I'll send an invitation for a trial.

Hope this helps!

a friend of mine who is a designer and photographer by profession really recommends Homestead.com (http://www.homestead.com/). i don't use them because i've already invested time/energy in learning Freeway Pro and have a reasonably priced hosting service that i like. however, if those things weren't in place i would definitely give Homestead a serious look. my friend has designed some really fantastic sites for people using Homestead. Here's one for an author friend of ours: Ann Jones. (http://www.annjonesonline.com/)

your husband is correct. at this point, having a web site is as pro forma as having a business card and further marks you as a serious professional.
