...how do you reply to an earlier post in a thread vs replying to the last post in a thread? I can;t seem to find a way to reply to anything other than what was last posted. Re saving a post, with the old style of board, I could click on a post, then go to my menu bar and click on "save page as". Now, however, that does not work for me. Could anyone tell me how to save a single post from the new board? I have a Macintosh in case that matters. TIA.

I can't answer your first question; however, as to the second ....
To respond to the entire post, you click on the "Post Reply" button on the lower left of the screen. To respond to an individual post, you click on the quill pen icon that is the third of the three icons at the lower right of THAT post. When you hold your mouse over it, you will see "Quick Reply to This Message". (At least, that is what I understand!)

Maybe you could try to click on the "quote" button and that might let you...I haven't tried that, though. It's worth a shot!

I don't know if Macintosh is different, but in Windows:
1) to reply to a particular post, click on one the three icons in the lower right corner of the post to which you want to reply. When you hold your mouse over each, it will give a brief description of each option.
2) You can subscribe to a thread without responding to it. In the window when you first access a thread, on the menu bar just above the first post, there is a drop-down menu that says "thread tools". when you click on that, you can then click on "subscribe to thread". You can then get back to that thread by clicking on "Quick Links" up on the main menu bar, which will allow you to click on "Subscribed Threads".
I have my options set to automatically subscribe to any thread to which I have responded, but I do the "no email" subscription as my default. Then when I access the board, I quickly check to see if there are any updates on those threads. Periodically, I unsubscribe to those that haven't had any activity.
Occasionally, I'll subscribe to a particular thread with email notification.

To save an individual post as a file to your hard drive:
Click on the post number which is to the left of the justice scales icon.
This will cause a new window to pop up with only that post it in rather than the entire thread.
You can use that as a permanent link in a blog entry, as a reference link in a different post on a different thread, or you can save it to your computer.
To save it to your computer click on file at the top of your screen and save it. You will now be able to view this post offline.

Stacey,
This probably isn't the most efficient way to save a post, but what I do is to open MS Word in another window, then go back to the WTM page I want to save, highlight the text I want to save and copy it, then switch to MS Word and paste it there. I then save the MS Word document on my hard drive and file it in a folder specific to that subject matter (e.g. literature or science).

Brenda

Also, if someone wants to save the entire thread, you can open the thread, go up to Thread Tools on the top right, click Show Printable Version. This will give you a version you can save with the Save Page As like the old boards.
