Okay, we started 9th grade following TOG so she got through Egyptian literature and Gilgamesh and she was also doing a Movies as Literature class where she did a lot of writing and analyzing. We stopped TOG after a bit of the second nine weeks due to medical problems. She was doing so much for her moview and Lit class that with spelliing, and some grammar, I considered that a credit for English 9.

I am still unsure she will be doing English with me but I can't wait any longer to plan since the homeschool class is so late with their choices that I have to order immediately if she doesn't choose to do English with them and she is talking like she won't.

I am considering using two Lightning Lit's. Would that be enough for English? I also could do her literature part from TOG 1st year but she doesn't like ancient texts that much. Any suggestions?

Christina,
I hope your daughter is feeling better and recovered from whatever medical issues were troubling her! I understand how medical issues can derail school plans (happened to us for a few weeks this summer- - that was enough for me!) Are you plaing to continue on with TOG yr 1 or are you going to go on to ToG yr 2 or what for history? If you are continuing on with Yr 1, perhaps you could pick the Iliad and the Oddyssey and a Roman work along with the Bible as lit and then hit the ground running with Medieval lit with Tog yr 2. Tog lit is pretty intense at the R level, but the students (and moms!) learn so much! If you want something besides ToG for lit, you might see if Progeny Press has any guides for the ancients, or maybe Smarr - I don't think LL has any ancient stuff. LL medieval lit looks very interesting, though. If your daughter really doesn't want to do the ancients, perhaps she could do LL speech first sem an then medieval lit second sem if that fits what you are doing for history. If your daughter doesn't need any more grammar, I would thing two semesters of LL, along with some vocab work and composiion would be quite sufficient for a full English credit. Hope this helps! I'm there with you in the needing to order department!
Blessings,
April
