Did your dc take the World Lit class before Western Lit through Dante? Was it necessary/helpful? Was the amount of reading in Western Lit overwhelming? Did you do your own writing or did your dc take a writing class? If so, which writing class did your dc take?
TIA,
Sandra

Only one of them had taken World Lit first. We love Dr. Bruce's lit courses and we feel he is an excellent teacher. After two years of his courses both girls SAT reading scores went up by 130 points. Of course, that could have been due to maturation also.
The reading amount in Western Lit is intense. It is something like 200-300 pages most weeks. Because of that, I scheduled a somewhat easier history year during 9th grade (the same year they took Western Lit). They also took a Write Guide writing course, which we all felt was a waste of time and money. It could have been just their instructor, but she was no help at all.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Yes, I would like to know more about the World Lit. course. Was the content learned strictly limited to what was in the text ? I happen to have the annotate Teacher's edition.
Thanks,

My son took World Lit in 8th grade. It was quite challenging -- the class covered the ENTIRE text. My older dd, who enjoyed SO's English Lit and American Lit, was a bit thrown by the difficulty of the text when ds showed it to her.

Thanks Gwen. How much writing was part of the course? Did he have to do a separate writing course?
Thanks,

There was NO writing in World Lit other than the exams.
He worked through a separate writing curriculum.
