Hello again. I posted 2 of our dd’s papers on Herodotus last week. Now-25yos dug up his paper on Herodotus, so I thought it would be fun to post his, too. I think he was about 17-18yo when he wrote this. We had just begun WTM and were still trying to figure out how it all worked, how to start 5dc all at the same time (in the 3 different stages), etc. If I remember correctly, at the time, I was thrilled when the boys wrote anything comprehensible at all. As you will see … ;)

Herodotus

Herodotus was born, and lived for most of his life (484-425B.C.). Driven by an unflagging inquisitiveness, this historian thoroughly traversed the then-known world—a square tract of land including Asia Minor and European Greece measuring nearly 1,700 miles to a side—applying his literary training wherever he happened to be.
This intensive study eventually found its way into a crowning work, The History of the Persian Wars, composed in the fifth century B.C. The Historyof the Persian Wars recounts the great Persian War between the Greeks and the Persians. The book is considered to be dependable, though somewhat incomplete, by most historians—the incompleteness referring to extra struggles that occurred between Greece and Persia.
Herodotus is believed to have died in Thurii around 425 B.C. due to the end of his life (or to the beginning of his life finally catching up to him—magi-cians are not sure which)…that should about do it.
