It's 1:20 and I'm still so frustrated at my boys' behavior today. They are really nice, normal, well-behaved kids. They both offered sincere, heartfelt apologies before going to sleep tonight. But, I'm still so wired and mad and I don't know .... it's been quite a while since we've had anything where we've had to do more than talk to the boys. This whole thing just disappointed me so much. I have to get over it and start our week fresh tomorrow ...

I left a comment on your blog, and mistyped twice!
I can totally sympathize. My Mom was throwing a birthday party for my twin and I on Saturday and we had really been looking forward to it. Lots of family we adore but don't regularly get to see. Rowan wakes up with a 102 fever. And throws up. And is miserable but oh that child........ 5 minutes into my first-born being ill, and make no mistake, she was ill, I wanted to kill her. The whole drama queen act. Unbelievable! Do you remember in the movie Arthur when Hobson did a death scene in jest, grabbed his chest and made horrible death-like noises? (or, insert any exaggerated death scene in your mind) She did that all day. Seriously! ALL DAY and all day yesterday too.
Anyway, commiserating with the mysteries of childhood behaviors and missing things we look forward to. My beloved had to stay home with her and I was really bummed. Not much of a birthday without my husband at my side.

From what I understand, it's normal for something like this to happen every once in a while, even from the most well-behaved kids.
Do you think the excitement of it all keyed them up? Do you think they needed help dealing with all the nerves, since maybe it was something new?
I know for sure they are going to think twice next time they feel that way.
Good on 'ya for standing your ground.
And yes, that's the stinky part of being a good parent: the sacrifices in the name of discipline.
(And I agree about Tom Petty. Dh and I had our own half-time show ;) )

But what I wanna know is what was he throwing? And why was he flying into the wall? And does Lydia get to go to the prom? Will Justin's body ever be found? Does this mean the end of... wait, this isn't just a mystery movie. This is better than a movie!! What HAPPENED?!?!?
I hope your stomach unclenches and your skin tone returns to normal soon. I'd send ya a little dose of estrogen, if I thought it would help, but... I don't have any to spare here, either. Sorry. {{hugs}}

Dear Amy,
I think I have the hardest time with the part you are facing now...starting fresh.
Those guys missed a good game, but I think you did them a favor, keeping them from seeing Tom Petty and those dreadful commercials.
They owe you.
Kind regards,
JudoMom

this means that Amy had to watch the FedEx carrier pigeon commercial by herself. I hope she wasn't too freaked out by the thought of genetically altered humongous pigeons invading the city .
I hope your day has gone better and they are still repentant and thinking of ways to make your day super-easy :D.

Well, the silver lining is that it was great fodder for a hilarious blog post. Good for you!

LOLOL Dy - Lydia DID make it to the prom - but you'll have to wait for next season to see who she ends up going with. Justin's body is most likely in the back of my freezer ... that will be under a separate cleaning post.
My understanding is that Dan threw Ian (poor Dan - what he doesn't seem to grasp is that his brothers have not even begun to grow and he's going to be the little guy in town soon) and as he was tossing his brother, Ian grabbed the headphones Dan was wearing and hurled them back at this brother. :::sigh:::: can you just sense the pride in me?????
Dan made the sad mistake of being snarky to his father this morning. So, now he has lost any learner's permit driving privileges for a week. Despite that set back, today was remarkably productive, calm and pleasant.

Starting fresh is hard. I think it's a female thing - I definitely hold grudges and I notice the "men" in my family don't. They get mad, get it out of their system and no problem.
LOL - I'll mention that missing Tom Petty puts them in my debt.

Oh man, JudoMom - you know me too well. I actually left the room when that commercial came on the tv - scary birds? Alone? No thanks.
