Can you all handle another spelling question from me? I'm still really confused. DD - 9th grade, my one who is very bright, highly disciplined, motivated, etc., but struggles with spelling - will be starting her second year of Henle Latin. I'm wondering if there's something that combines Latin studies with spelling. Thoughts?

TIA!

But it's a fabulous book: English Words from Latin and Greek Elements by Donald M. Ayers (http://www.amazon.com/English-Words-Latin-Greek-Elements/dp/0816508992/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217031577&sr=8-2). You can buy a workbook to go with it.

It's more of a vocab book but it covers a lot of spelling too. It seems to be a high school/college level book. A great tie-in with Latin. It explains the "why" of a lot of tricky spelling things such as -ible vs. -able and other things which come directly from Latin.

My son used this to study for the National Spelling Bee.

The WTM recommends the Vocabulary from Classical Roots series in high school (I think I'm right saying that), and that is a great series that teaches the vocabulary of Lating and Greek words, but you could require spelling mastery of the word lists as well. It is a very nice workbook series.
