Speed Skating Anyone??

On Friday at our hs skating outing DS got pulled off the rink for going too fast, and the referee invited him to join the speed skating team. :D

We went to their practice today and DS had a ball, loved every minute. Anyone have a child into speed skating? It isn't a sport that I'm really familar with so I'd love to 'hear' a mom's viewpoint on it.

haha, First inline speed skating would have to become an olympic sport, and second he'd have to get allot better. He's happy to have finally found a group that he clicked with immediately, and one that isn't composed of folks from all ages. Guess that's a hs affect, you like being with lots of different folks.

I thought you were talking about Ice skating which is probably what Mama Bear thought too. So he was roller skating..... you never know, it may become an Olympic sport one day! :) If it does, he can be the first ever gold medal winner for inline skating.

Wasn't there an olympic speed skater (ice) who had crossed over from inline? It leads very nicely.

I expected ice skating too. I have two cousins who went to the Olympics in 1988, in long distance speed skating.

But inline skating? I know nothing about.

I'm sorry, I should have included that this was roller skating and not ice skating. Guess I should not post at night, in the middle of the super bowl game when my team is doing awful....
