I have clicked on 6 links for Kool-Aid Playdough...and, have found 6 different recipes! Some have cream of tartar...some don't. Some use only 1/4 cup salt...some use 1/2 or 3/4 cup. Come say to refrigerate the playdough. ???
Anyone have a recipe that is the "perfect" one?
Thanks!

and I'll post it when I find it. It is WAY easy -- no cooking & no cream of tartar. I made it with preschoolers after all, and they loved it because they helped make it.

Subbing, because I want a no cook recipe. The one I had had to be refridgerated and then tossed after a certain time (worms! supposedly from flour!).

Here's our tried & true:
1 c flour
1/2 c salt
3 T cooking oil
1 pkg Kool-aid (unsweetened)
1 c boiling water
Mix together flour, salt, oil, and Kool-aid. Add the cup of boiling water. Mix well. Knead the mixture until it forms a soft dough. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Hope that helps you :001_smile:

In a large bowl, mix together:
2½ cups plain flour
1 cup salt
2 packages unsweetened Kool-Aid (tropical punch was always our favorite!)
Add to the dry ingredients:
3 teaspoons cooking oil
2 cups boiling water
Stir with a wooden spoon until cool enough to handle, then knead until color is consistent. The kneading is the part the kids liked the most. Sometimes, I would put smallish portions into ziplock bags and give each child a bag to knead, and then they could each take their bag home. If you don't want to use bags, store the playdough in an airtight container. We never stored it in the refrigerator, and it kept for months. Eventually it would get sort of gummy and the color & scent would go "off". When that happened, we would just toss it out and make more. Cheap fun!
