I pried myself off the couch to go take a shower. I carried a full laundry basket downstairs and got it into the washing machine. I sat down at the kitchen table (for the first time in a week) to start working on some school stuff. I sat here and ate lunch (dd made it), and guess what? Yep. MY BACK IS KILLING ME!!!!

This is getting *really* old. :glare:

:grouphug: I feel for ya. A bad back is a nightmare. I did a similar routine myself and my old-lady elbow is killin me.:w00t: If only I could claim something cool like tennis-elbow...no luck.

My Dh suffered a ruptured disc and unsuccessful surgery to repair it about 5 years. It was a nightmare...DD#1 expecting her first baby and ultimately she and her DAd were in the hospital at the exact same time..only she was in Minnesota and we lived in Michigan. What a way to welcome your first Grandchild!
Anway, he still has pain and while I don't know the specifics of your back problem, but this exercise might help.
Lay on the floor on your stomach for a few minutes..Arms back along your sides. When you get comfortable that way, push up and rest on your elbows. Stay that way for a few minutes. That might be enough for the first time. Try 5-10 minutes in each position.
supporting your self on your hands.. But your hips are still on the floor..does that make sense??
My DH does this nightly...We finally bought him a wedge shaped cushion that stays in the front room and he can lay there and read for a half hour to an hour every night. I found it on Walgreens.com. Expensive, but it so helps him!

Laundry is one of the hardest chores on my back. When you picked up the laundry basket did you use proper body mechanics? Make sure you use your quad, not back muscles when you pick up anything. I didn't notice the ages of your children, but when my back is sore, laundry is the first chore I hand off. Leaning into the machine is a bad stretch. If you do it, make sure you stretch your back afterwards. And when you switch clothes to the dryer, take them out of the washer, put in a basket on washer, then move them all to the dryer. Doing the twisiting motion placing clothes from washer to dryer is really bad. Sorry your back hurts, I know how hard it is to wait for it to get better. Make sure your doing some walking and strethcung daily.

Take the laptop and go sit down on the couch. It's so frustrating when our minds our ready but the body is slow to follow. :grouphug:
alleve. 2 in the morning. Every. Freaking. Morning. But, I can keep up with the girls, the laundry and my house.
